Transport protection for cable cars

Safely to the summit with individual transport covers

Protective covers made of FleeceGuard® ensure damage-free transport for sensitive surfaces

It’s always very special to commission a new cable car line. The new cable car cabins start their service with a shine. The surface is still new and has no signs of wear or scratches. With cable car cabins in particular, the polycarbonate panes are extremely sensitive to scratches and, of course, the cabins should be new and completely clean when they are put into service. Protection during transport and installation is essential to ensure that everything stays gleaming. Wherever there is a need for sensitive surfaces, there is no getting around the use of FleeceGuard®. After all, one of the main properties of fleece packaging is its soft surface. Highly sensitive devices, for example in medical technology, are wrapped with it. High-value electrical and luxury goods are also classic candidates for retaining their value with FleeceGuard®.

Only a few suppliers understand large products such as cable cars

One of the few suppliers who also offer protective covers for cable cars and even rail cars is Knüppel Verpackung. Manufactured under the brand name FleeceGuard®, the surface protection combines a soft polypropylene fleece on the inside with an abrasion-resistant, dustproof and waterproof barrier layer on the outside. FleeceGuard® protects sensitive surfaces from external impacts such as scratches and dirt – which also makes time-consuming final cleaning unnecessary. From high-quality bathroom fittings to car body and interior parts, from railway carriages to cable car cabins. The high quality of the Knüppel proprietary brand, for example the transport protection covers, has been impressing satisfied users in the international automotive industry for many years.

Material can be individually adapted

The two- or three-dimensional bags, sleeves and covers are produced in a process similar to that used for textiles at Knüppel’s own production facility. The form is developed using CAD, then cut to size and finished with ultrasonic welding or sewing, and fitted with windows, zips, hook-and-loop tape and various accessories. There are different FleeceGuard types available to suit different mechanical stresses. The FleeceGuard® CL Plus transport cover for cable cars is available in around twenty different versions. It protects the cabins during transport by container or open truck. This protects the paintwork and the particularly sensitive polycarbonate panes on the outside of the cabins, and different components can also be individually wrapped according to requirements. The customisable nature of the material means that FleeceGuard® can also protect exposed areas, such as ski holders which are fitted to the outside of the cabin. Another special feature of the cable car cabins is that the doors could be opened and closed during the construction phase and during the test run and still be completely enclosed and therefore protected from damage.

Customised transport protection covers
Customised covers from FleeceGuard® can also be made for moving parts. This means the doors can be opened and closed during test operation, but remain protected from damage.

Working together with the customer, the FleeceGuard® team always develops the most economical and target-oriented solution for a damage-free transfer to the destination. The experience gained from many previous projects is reflected in the development of the transport solution. This know-how guarantees the best possible results. The example of cable car cabins highlights the advantages of FleeceGuard®: the cabins are protected on their transport journey, they do not knock against each other and are also safe from scratches and other external influences during the construction phase. The cabins are therefore protected on their journey from production to their place of use on the mountain.
